March 8th, 2005: Open Usability review for KHangMan

The Open Usability team reviewed KHangMan and posted their conclusions there on openusability.org. I will work on the issues, it's always good to have the expertise of the usability team, thanks a lot for your work!

December 2nd, 2004: SVG icon to finish for KHangMan

Danny Allen has made a new svg icon for KHangMan (amended by Jonathan Ridell) but it needs 'crystallisation' to be finished. If you are an artist or an artist to be, you can get it there and colorize it. Then you can send me the finished icon and you will be credited for it along with Allen and Jonathan. Many thanks in advance!

September 2nd, 2004: Usability report for KHangMan

Celeste Paul has written a thorough usability report for KHangman.
Discussions happen in the Usability mailing list and some improvements have already been agreed on and have just been committed to cvs HEAD (next KDE 3.4).
See the progress of this work on the KHangMan usability webpage.

May 5th, 2004: KHangMan for KDE 3.3 in cvs HEAD

KHangMan has been merged from the make_it_cool branch to cvs HEAD. It means that now in cvs HEAD is the latest version with only english and the KNewStuff facility.
Thanks to Peter Hedlund's code, the toolbar with special characters for each language is now really nice, with all icons consistent.
Norwegian (Bokmål) is also available now, thanks to Torger Åge Sinnes.
Please don't hesitate to translate the data files to your own language if it is not already done!

March 13th, 2004: KNewStuff and Tajik language

For the KDE 3.3 series, KHangMan will be shipped with less data, only English and your KDE language if you have the corresponding i18n installed. But don't worry! You will still be able to play in another language or in several other languages. A new menu item has been added in the KHangMan File menu (File -> Get data in a new language) and will allow you in only a few mouse clicks to install and immediately play KHangMan in new languages! Thanks to Josef Spillner for implementing this new library!
Thanks to Roger Kovacs, we are in the process of adding Tajik data for KHangMan. Roger provided me excellent information about Tajik, what are the special characters, their unicode string, the font that will display them. At the moment, only a few words are available for the animals level but this allowed me to add the necessary code for this language.

December 22nd, 2003: Slovenian data is available on the website

Thanks to Jure Repinc, the Slovenian data files are now available. As it is code freeze for the next KDE 3.2 coming soon, I cannot add these files at the moment. A tarball of KHangMan version 1.3 which will work with all pre KDE 3.2 (alpha 1, beta 1 & 2) is available here (1.9Mo). This is KHangMan from cvs HEAD with Slovenian added.
You can also download the Slovenian data files to change KHangMan for KDE 3.x series as indicated here.

December 17th, 2003: Addition of Serbian data files (both Cyrillic and Latin)

Thanks to Chusslove Illich, the Serbian data files are now available. As it is code freeze for the next KDE 3.2 coming soon, I cannot add these files at the moment. A tarball of KHangMan version 1.3 which will work with all pre KDE 3.2 (alpha 1, beta 1 & 2) is available here (1.9Mo).
You can also download the Serbian data files to change KHangMan for KDE 3.x series as indicated here.
See the screenshots for Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin) at the bottom of the screenshots page.
Also a big thank you to Stefan Asserhäll who is a i18n guru! He promptly fixed a bug about translation of the levels.

September 22nd, 2003: Hints are available in French

In French, you can now if you want have hints to help you guess the word. The hint is given like a tooltip, on a right-click of the mouse, anywhere on the game and stays on for 4 seconds. The hint feature is enabled/disabled in a menu item in the Settings menu.
Please see the 2 bottom screenshots here.
I also did some bugfixes here and there. KHangMan is set to version 1.3 to reflect all that.

August 31st, 2003: A new toolbar with special characters per language

As suggested by Antonio Bella, I added a toolbar with button for the special characters per language. That way, you don't have to use a special keyboard layout.
Please see the 2 bottom screenshots here.
Also thank you to Albert Astals Cid who fixed a bug and some other code.

August 15th, 2003: Catalan data files and bug fixes

Thanks to Antoni Bella, there are now Catalan data files. This generated also a few bugs as Catalan has words with white spaces, · and -. That was promptly fixed and now the word to be guessed is shown as _ _ _ _ _ · _ _ _ _ for example for "libèl·lula". Furthermore, as with Spanish and Brazilian-Portuguese, when a user guesses "a", then "à" or á" also are shown in the word if they are present.
Also thank you to Lubos Lunàk who fixed some code for the full-screen mode and allowed compilation for 3.1.x.
