October 17th, 2007: German Logo example files

We got some German Logo examples files shared by Skolelinux. Please see Skolelinux KTurtle page in German for more information.
You can download those files and put them in your home folder then open and run them with KTurtle. Those files demonstrate fractals and recursion in KTurtle for KDE 3.5.

October 1st, 2006: Now fully translatable by PO-files

"PO-files?", you might ask... PO-files are files that the various translator teams of KDE translate in order to localize KDE to 'their' language. In the past (KDE 3.x times) KTurtle had, besides PO-files, also some data files that required quite some extra efford of the translations teams in order to be translated. This made KTurtle not so easy to translate, resulting in not too many complete translations.
But not anymore! KTurtle (the development version, that will be released as part of KDE 4) is now fully translatable by PO-files, requiring no huge extra efford from the translation teams. This will hopefully get KTurtle available in even more laguages.

September 24th, 2006: KTurtle google group launched

A KTurtle google group was created to discuss all about the development version of KTurtle. Interested? Join in!

September 22th, 2006: Rewritten KTurtle back in the trunk

When the porting of KDE to Qt4 started KTurtle was removed from the trunk (the place whre the development version of KDE lives) since a rewrite was scheduled. A fully rewritten KTurtle has been imported back into KDE trunk today. There is a changelog that covers most of the significant changes.

January 15th, 2006: KTurtle removed from the KDE trunk

Because Cies Breijs is rewriting parts (if not all) of KTurtle we have decided to remove KTurtle from trunk. This means that -- for the time beeing -- KTurtle is no longer developed as part of kde-edu. As soon as the kdelibs in trunk have stabalized Cies will re-import the KTurtle code back. Thank you in advance for your patience!

September 14th, 2004: KTurtle won 3rd prize in Dutch Educational contest

KTurtle won 3rd prize in a Dutch Educational contest! The technical jury was very pleased with the looks of KTurtle, good configuration options and a very nice manual and the educational jury said "Some renewed attention to LOGO is very much welcome."
There was no first prize as the rules to package the program were quite strick and difficult to meet and no entry was able to meet them. The 2nd prize had a mark of 16.5 and KTurtle is third with 16 so that was quite close.
Well done Cies for that great achievement which shows how educational software is becoming more and more important.
We would like to thank LinuxMagazine for organising the programming contest and the sponsors "Openbare Basisschool Rosa Boekdrukker" and Worldedu.

May 26th, 2004: KTurtle is part of the kdeedu module

KTurtle joined the kdeedu in cvs HEAD today to be shipped with KDE 3.3. If you are a translator and would like to translate the Logo commands to your language, please send a mail to Anne-Marie Mahfouf and she will indicate you how to do that. It's a very useful feature of the Logo programming language that the commands can be translated to the user's language so the most translations we get, the better!.

February 19th, 2004: The Turtle will be at FOSDEM

The Turtle is out in the wild! It is reported to walk to FOSDEM and it is said it'll get there right in time.
It will be presented for the first time to the public in the KDE developers room. The presentation will be amazing, please do join if you are at FOSDEM!
