KLettres - Usability
A Usability Report about KLettres is available here. This report has been done by Ellen Reitmayr from the Open Usability team. Thanks a lot for that usability study on KLettres.
On this page are written all the improvements that are done in KLettres following this report.
These changes will be available in KLettres version 1.4 shipped with KDE 3.5 (probably). You can also find them currently in cvs HEAD, in the kdeedu module.
Current work: Look Menu with Themes & Mode
The switching between the 2 modes currently is confusing. I propose to separate Themes (background pictures and font color) from Modes (Mode Grownup = normal mode, Mode Kid = stripped mode without menubar) and to group Themes + Modes in the same Look menu as shown on the screenshot.|

- The Kid and Grownup mode icons show now better which state you are in. See the tooltips on this screenshot in Grownup mode.

- Level is now a menu
- The Grownup and Kid icons stay in the toolbar in both modes, current mode is indicated bu the toggled button and above tooltip.
- Theme and Mode are distinct now. A theme is the background picture and color font for the letters. Mode is stripped GUI for Kid mode and normal for Grownup.
- Tooltips and QWhatsThis help for all actions
Get New Stuff dialog - in progress
- done - The File -> Get New Language... menu item has been changed to File -> Get Alphabet in New Language...
- TODO: add the languages names instead of only the iso code
- The rating cannot be done at the moment ( this requires a web interface, although rating via GUI should also be supported later for all installed items)
